Agreement to Terms

By accessing and using Roosevelt Island Connect, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and all applicable laws and regulations. If you do not agree with any of these terms, you are prohibited from using this platform.

Eligibility

Roosevelt Island Connect is exclusively for current residents of Roosevelt Island, New York. By creating an account, you represent and warrant that:

• You are at least 18 years old
• You are a current resident of Roosevelt Island
• You have the legal capacity to enter into this agreement
• All information you provide is accurate and truthful

Community Guidelines

Our community is built on respect and neighborly behavior. You agree to:

• Be respectful and courteous to other community members
• Not engage in harassment, discrimination, or hate speech
• Keep discussions relevant to Roosevelt Island community interests
• Respect privacy and confidentiality of other residents
• Not share personal information of others without consent
• Report inappropriate behavior or content
• Use the platform for its intended community purposes

Prohibited Activities

You may not use Roosevelt Island Connect to:

• Post false, misleading, defamatory, or fraudulent content
• Engage in unauthorized commercial activities or advertising
• Send spam, solicit, or distribute unsolicited messages
• Impersonate others, create fake accounts, or misrepresent your identity
• Share content that violates laws, regulations, or third-party rights
• Post content that is obscene, threatening, or promotes violence
• Interfere with the platform's functionality, security, or infrastructure
• Collect, harvest, or scrape user information for external purposes
• Use automated tools, bots, or scripts without permission
• Circumvent any security measures or access restrictions
• Share copyrighted material without proper authorization
• Engage in any activity that could harm our community or platform

User-Generated Content

You are solely responsible for all content you post on the platform. By posting content, you represent that:

• You own or have the necessary rights to post the content
• The content does not violate any laws or third-party rights
• The content is accurate and not misleading
• You will not hold us liable for any consequences of posting the content

We reserve the right to remove any content that violates these terms or is otherwise objectionable, but we are not obligated to monitor all user content.

Privacy and Data Protection

Your privacy is important to us. Our Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information. By using our platform, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

You acknowledge that community platforms involve sharing information with other users, and you should only share information you are comfortable making available to the Roosevelt Island community.

Platform Availability and Modifications

We strive to maintain platform availability but cannot guarantee uninterrupted service. We reserve the right to:

• Modify, suspend, or discontinue any aspect of the platform
• Update these terms and platform features
• Perform maintenance that may temporarily affect availability
• Implement new policies or guidelines as needed

We will provide reasonable notice of significant changes when possible.

Content and Intellectual Property

Your Content

You retain ownership of content you post but grant us a license to use, modify, and display your content within the platform for community purposes.

Platform Content

All platform features, design, and functionality are owned by Roosevelt Island Connect and protected by intellectual property laws.

Business Directory

For businesses listed in our directory:

• Business information must be accurate and current
• Businesses must have a legitimate Roosevelt Island presence
• Special offers and deals must be honored as advertised
• We reserve the right to remove listings that violate our guidelines

Account Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms or engage in behavior harmful to our community. You may also delete your account at any time through your account settings.

Disclaimer of Warranties

Roosevelt Island Connect is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee the accuracy of user-generated content or the availability of the platform.

Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Roosevelt Island Connect and its operators shall not be liable for:

• Any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages
• Loss of profits, data, or business opportunities
• Damages arising from user-generated content or third-party interactions
• Interruptions or errors in platform functionality
• Unauthorized access to or alteration of your data

Our total liability to you for any claims arising from your use of the platform shall not exceed $100 or the amount you have paid us in the past 12 months, whichever is greater.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Roosevelt Island Connect and its operators from any claims, damages, or expenses (including reasonable attorney fees) arising from:

• Your use of the platform or violation of these terms
• Content you post or share on the platform
• Your violation of any rights of another person or entity
• Your violation of any applicable laws or regulations

Dispute Resolution

We encourage resolving disputes through direct communication first. For formal disputes:

• You agree to first attempt resolution through good faith negotiation
• If unsuccessful, disputes will be resolved through binding arbitration
• Arbitration will be conducted in New York County, New York
• Small claims court remains available for qualifying disputes

You waive any right to participate in class actions or representative proceedings.

Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of New York State. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of New York County, New York.
